The twelve primary channels of the body are like rivers: their currents and depths vary, their courses twist and move through different regions of the body.

They all flow together and yet they are each their own river. When a river becomes blocked, water pools and floods, downstream the vegetation cannot be nourished.

The concept is similar in the body, where the smooth flow of qi and blood is essential to health and balance.

Exactly What I Was Looking For

I put off trying acupuncture for too long, but some recent pain motivated me to finally do it. Gillian came highly recommended by a friend. I’m so glad I’ve started going. She’s wonderful at what she does. She understands how different aspects of health and life are interconnected, and how to apply this to treatment. I felt so incredibly relaxed in the appointment, and I’m feeling a lot better already. I look forward to coming back. (Bonus: It turns out acupuncture doesn’t really hurt.)

The Best

Gillian is an extraordinary practitioner. Her deep, extensive knowledge and incredible skill are rivaled only by her incredible compassion, empathy, and enthusiasm for traditional Chinese medicine. I love seeing her! I’ve been in Gillian’s care for months now, and that is because I like acupuncture and herbs for regular health maintenance purposes: whether I have a headache, a cold, wrist soreness, etc., I *always* feel better after Gillian’s treatment.

A Healer with Grace, Intuition and Confidence

I have been seeing Gillian for over a year now, and her work has helped me feel more centered in my body, less pain, more confident overall, and just able to take on challenges as they come my way. Never sick either! I always look forward to my sessions with Gillian. She has a wonderful presence and is both calm and kind. Even when sometimes I don’t know what I need to feel better, her intuition, excellent listening skills, and pulse exam find the needed approach.

Healing and Wellness from 3,000 years of Chinese Medical Wisdom

At Twelve Rivers Medicine I provide acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food and nutrition therapy. I work from a classical Chinese medical perspective, as well as the Traditional Chinese Medicine often taught today.

Acupuncture and herbal medicine work effectively in treating all types and severities of illness and play a key role in health maintenance because they work within a framework of Chinese medicine, a whole health system.

Because every symptom of disease is seen from a Chinese medical perspective as an imbalance, symptoms of muscular and joint pain, common cold, anxiety, depression, digestive problems, stress, insomnia, infertility, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, plantar fasciitis can all be treated with acupuncture.

I'm honored to work with and sensitive to the needs of queer, transgender and gender non-conforming patients.
